New Microsoft Intune Licensing Explained

Microsoft recently announced the new Intune Plans. In this blog post, I want to break down what that is and what it includes.

Intune is already enabled in the licenses? Yes. However, the Plans can be separately purchased to help you elevate your device management game.

If you are new to Microsoft Intune, a separate Microsoft Intune License (Per User) can be purchased and assigned to the users.

Or if you have Enterprise licenses mentioned below, Intune capabilities are already included.

This was first announced during Ignite 2022. You can read more about it here.

New Features Overview

  • Microsoft Intune Tunnel for Mobile Application Management – A lightweight VPN solution for iOS and Android mobile devices that does not require device enrollment.

  • Microsoft Intune management of specialty devices – A set of device management, configuration and protection capabilities for special, purpose-built devices such as augmented reality and virtual reality headsets, large smart-screen devices, and conference room meeting devices.

  • Microsoft Intune Remote Help – A cloud-based solution that enables secure helpdesk-to-user connections.

  • Microsoft Intune Endpoint Privilege Management – A feature that allows standard users to perform elevations approved by their organization.

  • Microsoft Intune advanced endpoint analytics – A set of analytics-driven capabilities that help IT admins understand, anticipate, and improve end-user experiences. Initial features include customer device scopes, anomaly detection, and device timelines for troubleshooting.

  2. So if I have an E5 license and currently using Intune (Plan 1) and I want to get Intune Suite – is it $10/license/month or $18/license/month?
Or if I have plan 1 already as above and want Plan 2 – is it
    $4/license/month extra or $12/license/month?

This is extremely confusing and I think many are misunderstanding it.

    1. Hi Jennifer,

If you have M365 E5, that means you have the Intune Plan 1 included in it – Because its included, you don’t need to pay extra US $4 per license.

Intune Suite is mainly all the addons bundled. So, if you want to go for the Intune Suite, you will pay US $10 per month.

So, per user/ per month cost is M365 E5 + Intune Suite
Ideally extra US $10 a month because you have the Intune Suite added.
      Hope this is clear.
